The purpose of CLAW is to serve.
For that reason CLAW members are encouraged to help CLAW's
adopted shelters in whatever way they can.
We have provided some information below about each of
them. Please visit and learn about some of the great
things these shelters are doing to help less fortunate
kitties.
CLAW has adopted two shelters:
The Melrose
Humane Society is a no-kill shelter for all
animals in Massachusetts. There are several ways you
can help them meet the needs of the kitties they have
taken in.
For example, you can sponsor a special needs
kitty! "Special Needs" means a kitty
that is not easy to adopt because it has medical or
behavioral problems. One such kitty was Sadie.
She has the most wonderful and expressive face we have
ever seen. Sadie never found that special person or family who
was willing to adopt and love her. But as their
"Kitty Den Mom", Sadie got along great with
the other cats and showed them the ropes of living in
a shelter. She formed bonds with many of them,
working with the toughest cases, teaching them by
example how to trust a human once more. She helped
"turn" many a potential feral into a loving
companion for humans. Sadly, Sadie Journeyed to the
Rainbow Bridge before she could find her special
family. Sponsoring a Special Needs Kitty
will help kitties like Sadie.
You can sign up to
sponsor a special needs animal on Special
Sponsorships. The cost is $10 a month.
You can sponsor a spay. All the animals are
neutered, but it costs money. To help the shelter
neuter its animals, you can send them $40. Sign
up on Sponsor
a Spay.
You can also become a member of Melrose Human Society
for just $10 a year! My goodness, a large bag of cat
litter costs more than that!! We are going to join
today!!
Melrose also accepts gifts of money and of items
suitable for sale in garage sales.

Good Mews is a shelter just for cats. It is located in
Marietta, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. It is a private
organization. It is not affiliated with any local, state
or federal agency or unit of government. It relies
on volunteers for its existence and is 100%
dependent on adoption fees and donations. Good Mews' main
purpose is to find good homes for good kitties. It is a
non-profit, cage-free, no-kill facility. Once a cat
arrives at Good Mews it has a home for life. No cat is
ever euthanized to make room for another cat.
Good Mews kitties have the run of the shelter.
They can play, eat and sleep with each other and interact
with the volunteer and visitors. They get lots of
love and attention from volunteers and visitors
alike. The shelter provides a variety of kitty toys
and an environment that any kitty would find
welcome!
